August 25th - 28th, 2015 and September 1st -September 4th, 2015
- Elements of Art: Line
2nd: Students will investigate lines by making a Native American Parfleche.
3rd: Students will investigate lines by making a Native American totem.
4th: Students will investigate lines through Native American sand art.
5th: Students will investigate lines by making a Native American rattles.

Week 5 is a "Ketchup Day" for each class, except kindergarten. Projects that each class will be working on are as follows (reference previous lesson plans for standards and 'I can' statements):
5th: Students will be designing their rattles, gluing the handles on, and putting their design on the rattles. If students finish rattles, they will have more time to finish their linear homes from the first week in the art room.
4th: Students will be finishing their sand art. Once their Native American sand art is finished they will be able to finish their linear home drawings from the first week in the art room.
3rd: Students will be finishing their totems. Some students are still working with their clay, others are painting their clay, and some will be finishing their totem with twine. If students finish their totem, they will have the opportunity to finish their name tent and 'ish' drawings from the first week of school.
2nd: Students will be finishing their Native American Parfleche by completing the design and adding twine. If students finish their Parfleche they may work on their name tents and 'ish' drawings from the first week of school.
1st: Students will be completing their Native American weaving. If they complete their weaving, they will have time to complete their self-portrait from the first week of school.
K: Students are finished with their Native American weaving. This week kindergarten will finish their self-portraits from the first week of school (if they need too) and will have a one-day lesson on lines. Students will complete an artist study on Alexander Calder, then create a line drawing using curved lines.
Morning Rotation Art Classes
September 14th will start a new art class! Students will have the opportunity to have an extra art class in the mornings from 9:15 to 10:00 AM. The lesson plans for this rotation may be found below.

K/1: Students will complete a piece of artwork using lines to create an imaginary friend, like in the book Beekle.
2/3: Students will complete a piece of artwork using lines to re-imagine an adventure Beekle goes on.
4/5: Students will investigate different types of lines by creating a piece of artwork where they imagine a new character for the book Beekle.
